Studer Group is committed to our mission, which is to make healthcare a better place for employees to work, physicians to practice, and patients to receive care. As an extension of this mission, we are delighted to provide access to a tool each month that is usually reserved for our partner organizations in order to share leading practices across the industry.
Visit this page often to see what tool we've unlocked. Tools are available for a limited time.
AIDET® is an acronym that stands for Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation and Thank you. Healthcare professionals use this model to communicate with patients and each other in a way that decreases patient anxiety, increases patient compliance and improves clinical outcomes. “The Promise” portion of AIDET Plus the Promise℠ comprises an additional verbal commitment to a patient, family member or customer.
In the hospital setting, the key words and actions associated with AIDET Plus the Promise℠ are not restricted to nurse-patient or physician-patient communication. Every patient encounter matters. The portion of the AIDET® toolkit provided below offers sample keywords and phrases to be used by specialty areas of the hospital including environmental services, nutrition services, call centers, laboratory and more.
*Login is required to view the tool, but it can be accessed by anyone registered on the Studer Group website.
Whether interacting with a surgical nurse, valet, physician or housekeeper, patients judge the organization by the actions of individual staff members. An organization’s vision and mission are communicated, accurately or not, by the sum total of the actions and behaviors demonstrated by its staff. Formalized Standards of Behavior are what exemplify and demonstrate the organization’s values.
Use this exercise to facilitate an honest discussion about which Standards are working at your organization.
