Chad Wolbers, MHA, FACHE

Chad is a passionate healthcare professional with over 16 years of experience who is committed to helping organizations hardwire accountability around Evidence-Based LeadershipSM practices. He has played a key role in leadership teams that have been recognized with multiple awards, including Truven 100 Top Hospital, Everest Award, HealthGrades Patient Experience Award and Becker’s Hospital Review’s 100 Great Community Hospitals.

Professional Experience

Prior to working at Studer Group, Chad began his career as a vice president of general services in a community hospital. Following this role, he became the CEO of a critical access hospital that was part of an academic medical center. After serving in this capacity, Chad returned became executive vice president of a community hospital and the president of the hospital’s foundation. Most recently, Chad served as the COO of a regional referral center. During his time as a senior leader, he led efforts to start up and/or grow various service lines while balancing expense management and improving efficiencies. He also has a passion for improving workplace culture and patient and family experience.

Signature Engagements

  • Served as the executive sponsor of the service excellence/patient and family experience quality impact teams
  • Led strategic redesigns of teams and processes to better enable improved outcomes, leading to substantial improvements in the HCAHPS likelihood to recommend question from 63.2 to 78.6 percent, allowing for an improvement in national ranking from 18 to 77 percent
  • Presented at What’s Right in Health Care on improving individualized patient care in outpatient settings; with results improved from 55 to 91 percent in 2008
  • Developed business plans and implemented numerous new service offerings
  • Executively sponsored numerous initiatives to decrease cost, most notably related to device implants, blood utilization, contracted management services and productivity
  • Facilitated the development of new mission, vision, values and strategic plan that culminated in the board approving to build a replacement facility
  • Served on boards and committees of Rotary, Kiwanis, Hospice, YMCA, Chamber of Commerce, Junior Achievement, Hillcrest Family Services and March of Dimes
  • Iowa Hospital Association’s Young Executive of the Year Award, 2011
