Bonnie Cochrane, RN, MSc

Bonnie is a passionate healthcare leader whose focus is quality, innovation, and patient experience. She is a Registered Nurse with a Master of Science Degree (MSc) and Six Sigma Black Belt designation and has more than 35 years of healthcare experience. From early clinical experiences delivering patient care as a critical care nurse, her progressive career has expanded to involve population-level quality outcome improvements. After years of leading large, transformational change initiatives, Bonnie’s current focus is on creating and sustaining health system improvements through implementation of the Studer Group Evidence-Based LeadershipSM framework, and thereby making healthcare better for employees to work, physicians to practice medicine, and patients to receive care.

Professional Experience

Prior to joining Studer Group, Bonnie was the Vice President, Clinical Information Programs and Quality at the NL Centre for Health Information. In this position, Bonnie was responsible for strategic provincial information systems, including Telehealth, PACS, the Pharmacy Network, and other components of the iEHR. Prior to this, Bonnie spent many years working in Population Health Outcomes Research; she brings a rich background from her years as a clinical nurse and nurse leader as well as senior-level sales and marketing experience.

  • Recipient of Studer Group’s Pillar award for excellence in 2015, 2016 and 2017 for her positive impact in supporting achievement of partner results, and in developing new partnerships, expanding the mission of Studer Group®
  • Founding member and Co-Chair of the Canadian Health Informatics Association, COACH Pan Canadian Electronic Health Record (EHR) Governance Community of Interest
  • Led a Pan-Canadian team in the execution of Population Health CQI projects, demonstrating an effective model of Patient Health Management, which included broad partnerships, with iterative measurement, intervention, and feedback; this served as foundation for the publication PATIENTS FIRST: Closing the Healthcare Gap in Canada (2004)
