- Patient Flow Coordinator Role Standardization
- Process, Roles and Responsibilities Standardization
- Multimodal communication methods
- Streamline Arrival Process
- Focus on Employee Engagement
- Implement ED PIC committee using A3 and rapid cycle tests of change
Our collaboration through growth has been intense and rewarding. Raising the bar with Evidence based leadership framework with Studer group has been a monumental experience. Like all changes there are growing pains. Studer Group as an ER has assessed and diagnosed the growing edges and provided relief to painful areas and a treatment plan that has proven effective in fractured areas. Studer Group has also provided insight that has led to creating and fortifying bridges to practical, effective and successful patient care models in the North Fulton Emergency Department. Studer Group and North Fulton Emergency Department Leadership, Physicians and Team Members decision to band together to answer the call for change is imperative.
The Emergency Department has made great efforts in establishing a dyad nurse-physician leadership model with the Medical and Nursing Director. As a result, healthy relationships have contributed to the following multiple positive changes in the unit: morning and evening huddle beginning with a medical minute given by ER physicians, more effective leader rounding on employees and patients, a greater emphasis on communicating the "why" behind the rounding to staff, and a focus on patient safety by improving the throughput and ED metrics.
Studer Group principles of rounding, using key words at key times and documenting communication boards has influenced the Press Ganey scores to improve significantly. Incorporating Studer Group in our quest for providing world class care has proven to be relevant, life-giving and meaningful to Team Members, leaders, patients and families in the North Fulton Emergency Department and community at large.
