Who We Are
Valley Health System is comprised of The Valley Hospital, Valley Home Care and Valley Health Medical Group. All three entities are committed to providing excellence in clinical care in a compassionate and respectful environment.
In 2000, Valley redefined its vision to be The Health System of Choice. A review of our employee and patient satisfaction results for that year, however, indicated we were falling short of our goal.
In response, Valley launched a Service Excellence Initiative built around staff-developed and agreed-on Behavioral Standards and the concept of SERVE: Service, Excellence, Respect, Value and Ethics. We further embraced Pillars of Organizational Excellence: People, Service, Quality, Growth and Financial Performance, and identified goals, objectives and strategic plans around these pillars. We developed a manager level (two-day) and supervisor level (one-day) Leadership Institute (LI), which is held off-site three times a year. The LI is orchestrated by teams of managers and directors from across Valley Health System who create the content for the event. The goal of the LI is to develop leaders and give them the skills they need to succeed at Valley.
In consultation with the Studer Group, a national leader in service excellence consulting, Valley also built a formal structure to support service excellence. A vice president was appointed Service Excellence Champion. Service Excellence Team leaders and members were selected from each entity. Their multidisciplinary outlooks and approaches to problem solving enabled Valley to develop and implement strategies to ignite a culture change and improve patient and employee satisfaction throughout Valley Health System.
Valley's passion to make Valley Health System a better place for employees to work, for physicians to practice and for patients to receive care has garnered third-party recognition.
For the past three years, Valley Health System was named one of the 50 Best Places to Work in New Jersey by NJBIZ, a business publication. In 2006, Valley was rated the Top Health System in the state.
We are proud to say that we are well on our way to reaching our ultimate benchmark -- to reach the 99th percentile nationally in patient satisfaction, meet and exceed ever more demanding financial and operational goals, and to be The Health System of Choice for Patients, Physicians, Employees, Volunteers and Auxilians.
