River’s Edge Hospital & Clinic, located in St. Peter, MN is a 17-bed Critical Access Hospital located near the tip of the Minnesota River. It is 10 miles north of a regional medical center in Mankato and 10 miles south of a critical access hospital in Le Sueur. River’s Edge Hospital & Clinic, formerly St. Peter Community Hospital, has been the healthcare home to the St. Peter area since 1938. A new hospital was built at a new location in 2004. The name was changed to “River’s Edge Hospital & Clinic” in 2008 to reflect the growth of the healthcare campus. The Mission is, “To provide quality health services.”
In 2013 the hospital faced uncertainty as low patient volume, high turnover and, decreased revenues reached the sixth consecutive year. A change in leadership happened later in 2013 and with it came new partnerships and series of best practices implemented through The Studer Group to improve employee turnover, morale, engagement, and patient satisfaction. Working partnerships with other clinics and physicians has led to an increase in patient volume and revenues. Now, just four years later, River’s Edge Hospital & Clinic has achieved consecutive 5-Star ratings for patient experience from CMS, has won state awards for safety improvements and employee satisfaction, and has been recently been certified as a DNV GL Center of Excellence for the hip and knee replacement program. REHC is one of nine DNV GL Centers of Excellence in the US and is the only one in Minnesota.
