Macedon Ranges Health (MRH) is an award winning, community based not-for-profit organization dedicated to the provision of health, community, welfare and aged care services. MRH has been serving the communities of Macedon Ranges Shire and surrounding districts since 1958.

MRH Mission is recognised and respected as a valued regional provider of high quality, Integrated Primary and Aged Care Services. Their Vision is promoting wellness together by providing Individual choice. The organisation is driven by their Values: supporting individual health and care choices, acting honestly and with integrity, respecting diversity, enhancing accountability and performance, and striving for excellence and continuous improvement.

MRH employs over 169 employees. The health service treated more than 11,386 clients, facilitated 5,865 home care visits and currently have 96 percent occupancy in residential aged care facilities. Their impressive volunteers program has grown to 160 people and continues to be the largest health volunteer service in the region.

MRH commenced their partnership with the Studer Group in 2015, an initiative that internally was named Hard Wiring for Excellence. This program has been embraced by staff and has led to major improvements in employee engagement and well-being.

Over the two and a half years of our partnership MRH have moved from an organisation at risk of not meeting safety and quality standards and in financial difficulty to one that is fully accredited against the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards and Aged Care accreditation standards. They have achieved a significant turn-around in financial performance, from a surplus of $17,000 in 2013-14 to $400,000 surplus in 2016-17, an improvement of 450 percent. In March 2016, they conducted the MRH Employee Engagement Survey. Major improvements were achieved since the previous survey in April 2014: 53 percent improvement in communication, 46 percent improvement in acknowledgement of good performance and 38 percent improvement in recommending MRH as a great place to work.

Together with Studer Group they implemented a values-based leadership framework where people are important and their contribution and ideas are valued.

MRH has been recognized by the industry for its high-quality services, innovation and community engagement. In January 2016, MRH’s Annual Colour Fun Run was awarded Community Event of the Year at the Macedon Ranges Shire Council’s Australia Day Awards. In June 2016, MRH won two major awards at the Annual Leading Aged Services Australia (LASA) Awards for Excellence: Service Innovation Award for Community & Home Care and Community Engagement Award. These achievements are a testament to the expertise, dedication and commitment of their staff, volunteers, board and partners.
