Julie Kennedy

Julie Kennedy-Oehlert , RN

 

Take 18 years of clinical experience as an emergency room trauma nurse, expertise as a forensic nurse examiner, hours of speaking, coaching and teaching time, AND an energy level that makes her sought after by CEOs, physicians and nurses, and you get Julie Kennedy. She commands a national presence in sharing her passion for excellent patient care with the next generation of "difference makers."

Julie has extensive coaching and speaking experience and a proven track record of sustainable results. Julie is known for her versatility and ability to relate to all those who care for patients. After all she worked at the bedside for almost 2 decades! Julie is an internal expert at Studer Group in coaching physician practices and emergency departments. She led the study on ‘The Effects of Emergency Department Staff Rounding on Patient Safety and Satisfaction' which will be published in the journal of Emergency Medicine in 2009. She has worked closely with healthcare leaders, nurses and physicians across the US and Australia on strategies that positively impact service and quality outcomes, as well as their own professional growth and satisfaction.

Six of Julie's partners have been awarded the Studer Group Fire Starter Award for sustained results in all pillars. Julie has coached two Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award recipients. The prestigious honor was awarded to North Mississippi Medical Center in 2006 and Sharp HealthCare in 2007.

Additionally, Hackensack University Medical Center's Emergency Department was awarded the JD Powers award in 2006. HUMC Emergency Department and Sharp Rees Stealy Urgent Care Center both received the Press Ganey Success Story Award in 2007. North Mississippi Medical Center-Tupelo was honored with the Press Ganey Compass Award in 2007 for Emergency Departments with greater than 30,000 visits.

Julie is a five-time "pillar award winner" and is highly valued for her no-nonsense presentation style, which is passionate, entertaining and prescriptive. She appreciates all that is right in healthcare but has the confidence to say the things that need to be said to make healthcare a better place for staff to work, physicians to practice and patients to receive care.
