Survey Physicians
for
Higher Satisfaction
Don't
have the budget to hire a survey vendor to conduct physician satisfaction
surveys? You can still collect important, actionable information on your
own.
Questions to
Ask
Organizations that Studer Group works with often use a variety
of surveys that ask physicians to:
> rank the importance
of key items in increasing their efficiency (e.g. daily lab on chart;
nurses rounding with physician; copy of medication form on chart;)
> describe their expectations
for an acceptable time frame for routine lab and x-ray results on the
chart;
> identify equipment
and supply needs;
> share perceived strengths and weaknesses
in hospital areas;
> rate all hospital
departments that impact their patients (e.g. dietary, radiology, lab,
administration);
> note the two things they like most and
least about being a member of the medical staff.
Connect the dots for physicians by explaining your
goal is to make the organization a great place for physicians to practice,
employees to work, and patients to receive care. Tell them that you view
physicians as partners in realizing this vision so their opinions are
key to creating and sustaining excellence.
