At a CEO roundtable held at Studer Group's What’s Right in Health Care Conference last June in Kansas City, 40 CEOs cited these as the top three leadership behaviors that drive results:

1. Communication—Consistently communicating the organizational vision, goals, and progress to date.

2. Action—Ensuring actions are consistently directed to meeting the goals by measuring progress.

3. Visibility—Consistently communicating the organizational vision, goals, and progress to date.

4. Communication—CEOs are present at employee events (e.g. LDIs, employee forums), out on the floor rounding on front-line/unit staff, and through thank you notes.

CEOs also cited the need to create a "burning platform" or sense of urgency to avoid stagnation and complacency within organizations that may see themselves as "good enough".
