MESSAGE FROM QUINT
BUILD PHYSICIAN LOYALTY, TRUST AND COLLABORATION.
I n my many years in healthcare, I generally find that CEOs lose their jobs over one
of two issues: a poor relationship with the medical staff or financial issues.
Sometimes they are closely related.
In this issue of Hardwired Results, we’ll address both. Hospitals struggling with declining volumes, for example, are frequently losing the physicians who used to do these high volume procedures in their hospitals to new joint venture arrangements with other partners.
How can you turn the tide? Read “Create Physician Loyalty that Joint Venture Firms Can’t Beat,” by Studer Group’s Executive Vice President Brian C. Robinson. As a career CEO in all kinds of healthcare operating environments, he brings more than 25 years of in-the-trenches experience on this issue to you.
In conversations with CEOs from seven exceptional organizations, we’ve also highlighted key tactics that earned these organizations extraordinary results. In fact, many are presenting at Studer Group’s upcoming What’s Right in Health Care Conference June 18 to 20 in Atlanta. Others lead organizations that have been named as winners of Studer Group’s well-known Fire Starter Award.
And finally, this issue closes with Dr. Gerald Hickson’s article on how to deal with difficult issues. If you find his tools and results intriguing, I’d urge you to attend his plenary session at the June conference. I look forward to seeing you there.

Yours in service,

Quint Studer

Top CEOs Credit Their Teams
Editor’s note: In interviews with all seven of the CEOs featured in this issue, I was particularly struck at their reluctance to take credit for the results in their organizations or even include a personal photo for each article. In every case, they credited many leaders and employees for their success. It’s clearly true that the most successful CEOs give away all the credit.
