Nursing Management Effectiveness Study

The Studer Alliance for Health Care Research is currently seeking organizations to participate in a groundbreaking new study. Through this research, we seek to examine how several dimensions of nursing management, from the training nurse managers receive to the availability of mentors to the types of units they manage to the number of direct reports they supervise can affect the efficiency and effectiveness of the nurse manager and the impact on organizational outcomes such as patient safety, nursing staff turnover, patient satisfaction and employee engagement.

In nursing, the first-line manager fills one of the most critical roles in the administration of nursing services. For a manager to perform her/his responsibilities effectively, they must have proper training, support and organizational structure, each of which has financial, human resource and quality care implications.

We are seeking organizations to participate by completing a brief request for information, particularly related to Medical/Surgical, Medical, Surgical, Cardiac and Oncology Units. A full research protocol is available by contacting Dr. Chris Meade, Studer Alliance for Health Care Research. Dr. Meade can be reached at (540) 942-9143 or chris.meade@studergroup.com.

Interested organizations should contact Dr. Meade by September 10.

We believe this research, once published, will advance our shared mission of using evidence-based information to make health care better. We look forward to your participation.
