Memorial Healthcare System, Hollywood, Fla., won the $100,000 Foster G. McGaw Prize for excellence in community service. Susan Manilow, chairwoman of the prize committee, praised the publicly owned, five-hospital system for its efforts to build “strong partnerships with other community organizations and community leaders to create a wide spectrum of impressive and effective community initiatives.”

The American Hospital Association, Baxter International Foundation and Cardinal Health Foundation sponsor the annual award, which promotes innovation in programs to improve community well-being and health.

Judges named three finalists, each of which will receive a $10,000 award. They are Baystate Health, Springfield, Mass.; Montefiore Medical Center, New York; and Sisters of Charity Health System, Lewiston, Maine.
