Our Calling is Caring: January 08
The Christmas Meal
During this holiday season, Autumn, one of our 2nd floor nursing assistants was completing her post-visit calls on patients that had been recently discharged. She called a patient who had been on our floor and while speaking with this gentleman, she learned he would be eating oatmeal for two meals due to his home care tech not able to visit until late in the day. All he would be able to prepare would be oatmeal. Autumn determined after speaking with the charge nurse Mattie that since the floor was holding a celebration of food over the next five days for Christmas, they should take the gentleman a plate of food to eat for lunch as they would have plenty of extra leftovers. They agreed that since he lived close to the hospital this would be a wonderful idea.
Autumn prepared a nice plate of barbeque and took him the plate for lunch that day. This patient was extremely grateful for his "Christmas meal" and we at Baylor are extremely proud of Autumn for living the values of our organization. She is a real difference maker.
