St. David's Round Rock Medical Center, located just north of Austin in Round Rock, Texas, provides comprehensive health services to residents of Williamson and surrounding counties. Services include inpatient capacity of 182 beds with private rooms, a nationally recognized Heart and Vascular Center, The Women's Center and a comprehensive Emergency Room. St. David's Round Rock Medical Center is a Certified Chest Pain Center accredited by theSociety for Chest Pain Centers, the nation's leading organization focusing on improving care for patients with acute coronary syndromes. The medical staff at St. David's Round Rock Medical Center currently has more than 600 physicians to meet the needs of the growing Williamson County population.

Exceptional Care (Service/Quality)

  • Achieved top 10% in all four categories of Core Measures in Q2 and Q3 2008.
  • Reduced ED length of stay for patients discharged through the ED from 176 minutes in April 2008 to 147 minutes in December 2008.
  • Reduced ED Arrival to Bed times to our 20 minute goal over a 5 month period and maintained for 5 consecutive months.
  • Reduced the number of hours ED admitted patients are holding for an inpatient bed per month from 900 minutes per month in January 2008 to less than 500 minutes per month in December 2008.

Customer Loyalty (People)

  • Composite patient satisfaction scores have consistently ranked in the top 10th percentile in the Gallup database for over the last five years, as well as ranked in the top 10 of all HCA facilities throughout 2008.
  • H-CAHPS results above national mean in all areas from April 2007 to March 2008 discharges.
  • Overall employee satisfaction improved from 74% overall satisfied in 2007 to 79% overall satisfied in 2008.
  • Employee satisfaction with the facility as a place to work improved from 88% in 2007 to 93% in 2008.
  • Reduced employee turnover from 19% in 2007 to 17% in 2008.
  • Reduced contract labor from an average of 36 FTEs in 2007 to 18 FTEs in 2008.
  • Improved the percentage of physicians who would recommend the facility to 97% in 2008.

Financial Strength (Growth/Finance)

  • Significant volume increases in outpatient surgeries, outpatient visits, births, Cath Lab procedures, open heart cases and neonatal admits from 2007 to 2008.
  • Reduced LPT/LPMSE percent below goal of 1.5%.
  • Reduced Manhour per Adjusted Admission by 3.33% from 2007 to 2008.
  • Reduced Manhour per Adjusted Patient Day by 5.26% from 2007 to 2008.
  • Consistently met unbilled days goal of 1.5 days in 2008.
  • Achieved overall DRG coding accuracy rate of 92.56% during 2008 audit.
