Fort Sanders Sevier Medical Center is proud to provide the right care, right here to the residents of Sevier County. A full-service, 79-bed Top 100 hospital, the current facility features state-of-the art imaging services, surgical services, family-centered maternity care at the Dolly Parton Birthing Center, 24-hour emergency care, on and off-site physical therapy clinics, a 54-bed nursing home, as well as a host of other services. The hospital, Fort Sanders Sevier Wellness Center and our outpatient physical therapy clinic employee 552, and the medical staff at FSSMC includes highly-trained physicians who specialize in over 20 areas of medicine.

Opening early 2010, across the street from our current facility on Middle Creek Road in Sevierville, is the new medical campus featuring LeConte Medical Center. Not only will the new medical center feature expanded services in the existing areas of expertise, but also new and exciting features such as an expanded emergency department (our current ED is built to see 17,000 patients annually, and currently FSSMC cares for over 41,000 ED patients a year), all private patient rooms, an ICU step-down unit, the Dolly Parton Center for Women's Services, the Dr. Robert F. Thomas Professional Building, and a Sevier County location of Thompson Cancer Survival Center.

Fort Sanders Sevier Medical Center is dedicated to providing excellent care to the residents of Sevier County. In 1981 Sevier County Hospital joined Fort Sanders Regional to form the Fort Sanders Health Alliance. Both hospitals became a member of Covenant Health when it was established 1998.

Covenant Health is a community-owned health system providing comprehensive health services throughout East Tennessee. Headquartered in Knoxville, Covenant Health includes five acute care hospitals with a total of more than 1,500 licensed beds, as well as numerous outpatient services and clinics. The health system also includes specialty providers of behavioral, oncology and rehabilitation services. Covenant Health has more than 1,000 affiliated physicians and 8,500 employees.

In October 2007 Fort Sanders Sevier began our journey with the Studer Group, and immediately began to hardwire the tools assisting in our excellence:

  • Hardwiring quarterly Employee Forums, with over 80% attendance achieved at all sessions (latest Forums over 90% achieved)

Since our partnership with the Studer Group began we have made remarkable progress on our Journey to Excellence.

Inpatient:

  • 7 quarters up above baseline
  • 4 quarters running now above the 94th percentile, YTD 97th percentile
  • Key drivers at or near the 100th percentile for 7 quarters
  • Since the beginning of our partnership October 2007, ED has moved from the 18th percentile to the 55th percentile, scoring 91st percentile in November
  • Our Outpatient scores have moved from the 12th to the 53rd percentile
  • OP Surgery from the 7th to the 74th
